MN1 Mūlapariyāya-Sutta – The Root of All Things – 中部一 根本法門經

The Buddha explains that the concept of a self comes from the process of perception. An unawakened person make sense of experiences with a self, while the awakened have the same experiences without any attachments.

佛陀教導婆羅門若奴索尼如何準確地推斷一位老師的靈修成就,並以捕象師追尋大象的步驟及後續比喻此一推斷過程。佛陀具體描術一位僧人從凡夫到阿羅漢的修行階段。

The Buddha was satisfied with the sangha’s practice and went on to talk about the mindfulness of breathing, and how it fulfils the practice of four foundations/focuses of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna, see DN22 and MN10).

佛陀很滿意僧團的修習,並開示了出入息念的修行方法,以及修出入息念是如何滿足了完成了四念處的修習 (長部二二中部十)。


MN119 Kāyagatāsati-Sutta – Mindfulness Immersed in the Body – 中部一一九 身行念經

The Buddha talks about mindfulness on the body, which is equivalent to the body section in the Satipatthana-Suttas (DN22, MN10), but without the breath part. The-sutta states that this practice brings great benefits and leads to Nibbana.

佛陀在此經教導身體上的正念,相當於其他念處經 (長部二二中部十) 關於身體的段落,但去除了呼吸的部份。此經教導修習身體上的正念會帶來大效果及可以達至涅槃。

The novice monk Aciravata (addressed as Aggivessana in the-sutta) was unable to convince Prince Jayasena that the one-pointedness of mind is achievable through practice. The Buddha came up with the simile of two friends hiking and the simile of training an elephant, that if heard by the prince then he would have gained faith in the Dhamma.

沙彌阿基勒哇大(在經中又被稱為阿其威色那)未能說服若雅謝那王子關於心一境性能通過練習而觸達。佛陀先後舉了兩位朋友一起登山的比喻,和調御大象的比喻,並說如果若雅謝那王子聽到這兩個比喻就會對佛法生起信心。
